could i put an EB V8 into my EA ?
if so how much could i get 1 in good condition ?

(i posted this in the clevo section , ooops :) )

mate says steering mechanism in the EA would interfere with the V8 somehow but just wanna make sure...

Yes you can, but you need a new cross member, try and get your hands on some old copies of Street Machine where they did the 2 door EA V8 (Sony Scorcher) it has everything you need to know!!!!

you'd be best going to an auction and buying an EB/ED V8 wreck, preferably not front or rear (hail or light roll over would be best), as you can use the whole running gear.

ABS will help you to pass engineers, though isnt necessary (though if its in your wreck you'd be crazy not to fit it)

ou have to retaina ll the emissions gear out of the car the engine comes from (so EB/ED). use teh stock exhaust to get an engineers pass, then put on a system after you have ya papers

if it were me doing this conversion, i'd try and get an EB/ED Fairmont ghia thats had a light roll. they go verry cheap (cheaper than buying an engine seperate - like around 1200 / 1500 cheap), and do as much work as you can yourself. the interior would also go straight in from the EB

not really, they go through the auctions quite a bit, light panel damage cars are also good. (side swiped along the pillars, bent sills, dented in rear quarters).

too much effort to repair, so they go quite cheap

Will fit after u buy the crossmember. I was told u needed to but an XR8 sump but when Jason bought one it was the same as an old 302W sump ???

Lesson - Don't always believe the guy behind the counter at FORD !!!
