Where would I find the catch code for the ECU on an AU... is there an easier way than digging out the ECU itself?

Don't know if it is the same on the AU, but on the E-series falcons, the catch code is also on the passenger side engine bay, close to the shock tower and under the U shaped part hanging off the intake tubing.

Thanks Grant, but couldn't see anywhere in the engine bay - I do know where you mean though. I know where the ECU is but was just too lazy to find the torch and uncover earlier on. However, my curiosity got the better of me and I had to get at it.

The number is 8F0931 F5Sb-14A624-AA.

I have searched the forums and found info similar to the following;

The first 4 digits stand for (using 4TAD as an example);

4 = 1994 year model.
T = Tickford (D = standard).
A = Manual (B = Auto).
D = revision (could be A, B, C, D, etc)

So what does 8F09B1 mean (it might be 8FO9B1, hard to tell)?

Also, I should have started this thread in the "ECU Tech and Programming" section but don't know how to move now. Does an administrator need to do this?

8F0931 F5Sb-14A624-AA isn't the catch code, it is the Ford part number. The catch code should also be on the EEC casing, on a sticker usually (well it is on the E-series falcons so it should be on the AU's too).

I pulled the kick pannel and found it on the bottom of the ECU.
I think the big writing is all you will need, mine was "3DFA".
Do they make twEECers that support these?

What info have you found for EEC tuning?

Unfortunately the 3DFA is not supported by tweecer. I was going to buy one last week but am just going to stay with the CAPA chip until it is supported. If you really want to use a tweecer you could go to a wreckers and get one that is supported but I couldn't be bothered with the hassel and probably high cost at the moment.

Thanks fellas. This was the only visible number on the EEC that I could see when still fastened. Definately no visible sticker. I'll remove the unit from its bracket or whatever fixes it to the body tonight and check the bottom of the ECU as dodgie did.

Your catch codes are both 3DFA... what does the F stand for?

I assume the F is the type of Auto, I know they had C,D,E,F in the EB-ED V8's. I think F is the later model Autos's where the D is the older ones (maybe 91LE's). Same with E being later model 5 speeds compared with the older C's I guess.
