ED V8 More power!

Hi everyone,

Great forum you have here, I'm very excited to find so many blue oval enthusiasts in the one place. Good stuff!
What I would like to ask the gurus, is for some advice on my ED windsor 5L.
I've turfed the poo E7 heads and HO manifold (in the process of changing that over anyway), I've got 2031 Crane cam, chip torque chip, explorer manifold. What I was wondering is what the difference between GT40 and GT40p's are (I'm pretty sure I have GT40's)
Also, is it worthwhile changing the injectors for these mods - should I go to 24lb ones and is there anything special that needs to be done to accomodate the bigger injectors - or can I just have my chiptorque chip modified to suit?
Any other suggestions too .. not wanting throw buckets of cash at it ... yet
Thanks

Re: ED V8 More power!

I rekon the standard 19ibs injectors should be right for your setup still. When u start to introduce more fuel into your engine you also need to look at all the induction aspect of it as well ie. ull need to get the maf sensor calibrated to accomodate bigger injectors and a bigger throttlebody too prolly dont wanna go smaller than 75mm. Maybe a good project if u decide to go with s/c or stroker down the line

Also with chiptorque be careful the chip hanging out the ECU isnt loose. It needs to be in there tight otherwise you'll have a bunch of problems. Took me 3 months and $$$ to find out the chip was loose in my ecu when my 347 was finished

Good luck!

Re: ED V8 More power!

19 lb injectors should be ok still but id recomend a dyno check when your mods are finished just to be safe. using a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (yes, even in a non turbo application) like a malpassi or similar will really help throttle response and fuel delivery, especially if you use hi stall convertor, low diff gears and or cold air induction. cheers
