I'm in the process of changing my 289 from 2bbl to 4bbl Edelbrock. I have a few questions.....

1) Do I need a spacer in between the carb and manifold?

2) This 1406 Edelbrock looks like it is assembled backwards. If I put it on so the linkage is on the correct side, the carb will look like it is on backwards. the needle valves will be on the front. I suppose it will be easy to move the PCV valve to the other side. I can't see why it can't be on that way. But, it just seems strange. (now, I don't know if you Aussies drive on the righthand or wronghand side of the road) :) My drivers side is on the lefthand side of the car.

Any input you all have would help

i am in the process of installing a new edelbrock manifold and holley for my 302 windsor as well
when i put my holley on it seemed the wrong way around to me as well as i had a 2 barrel before but hey it works the same either way.
My needle valves are on the front too.
I havent used a spacer between the carb and the manifold so iam unsure of that one.

Do does everyong install their 4 bbl carbs backward? I had a 4 bbl Holley when I was a teenager. I don't remember it being backwards.

i dont think it is backwards as the throttle lever will only go one way and cant be reversed
so what ever side the throttle is on determines which way the carby faces.
