EF/EL Alternator into ED?

Hey all,

I have searched the forums, but i cannot find a definitive answer.

Does the 6cyl ef/el alternator fit into an ed v8, and if not does the v8 ef/el alternator directly bolt into an ed? I know some people have done it, just want to hear your experiences, because i am about to install thermofans and i want the alternator to handle it.....

For those who haven't changed to a 110amp alt and still have the thermos, what alt have you changed to, or how does it run with the stock alt.

Any help appreciated

Re: EF/EL Alternator into ED?

I too have this problem. Have EDV8 with thermos - there is no alternator that fits because of different mounting on alternator case.

Am considering to rewind existing ED alt to 120amps, however some issues with rectifiers not handling it and also warning light may stay on when u start car - may need to goose the pedal to get rid of it.

I have significant voltage drop- not a current problem but this could be alternator brushes
