can anyone please please tell me some of the things i can do to the stock 5.0L to get more power besides turbos and chargers, i saw an add for a motor swap for a 302 in performance ford mag it was a 400hp motor for a little ova 5k but it was a carb motor does anyone also know who does this for efi motors or can they suggest anyone in the sydney area for either questions thankz

i heard some good sh#t about them...
and according to their website your Ef XR8 will go from 170 kW and 398 Nm... to 192 kW and 437 Nm with only the chip change over (note: thats more torque then EL GT 420Nm)

EL GT:
200Kw @ 4700rpm
420Nm @ 3700rpm

Not too sure about the rpm on the torque but.. i think it was more like @ 3500rpm

ok cheers i have read heaps about these chips and some good others not so good as they rekon the ford computer can learn around the computer me knowing nothing i dun know wat to belive

Well I guess like most of us, the first step would be a set of extractors. I have pacemakers and it seems most guys go that way.

I also have high flow cats and my syatem goes dual down to a single 2 1/2 muffler, with the Y piece just before the muffler. Single pipe exits the car.

From there I know Herrods in Melbourne have 3 sets of GT40P heads with Valves, and minus roller rockers for around $1100 bucks.

From there ELII onwards upper and lower intake manifold (I have been keeping an eye on EBAY in the states for these as well) A larger trottle body and then cam.

hey?? with the fords the computer is fully replaced with the aftermerket one... unlike with the holdens where they just add a chip. So i wouldn't expect it to lern around.

I'd expect it to learn around the extra power added from say the exhaust system... I know for sure with the 5.7ltr chev on the holden VTII, if you add say exhaust, you'll get extra power and then it dulls off to what it was before after a month or so... because the computers on them have set figures so if they produce more, the engine is told by the computer to make less power to keep within the limit...

I never heard of this for the fords, and i hope they don't do that...
But like i said.. they shouldn't.. because the entire comp is replaced...
