Just out of curiosity, do the EL2 XR8s have the same heads as on all the 165kw v8's like my ed fairmont?
im assuming they changed the heads in the AUI to explorer heads.

I posted a subject on the EL2 XR8 donk not long ago and everyone seemed to have a different opinion about what the engine was made up of. As far as I know it has GT40P heads. Whether any other models use them I don't know?

I am not sure on ELII XR8. I know that the manifold is off an Explorer/ ED Sprint but as for the heads I would be guessing that they are GT40's....The GT40P only started to get used on AU's...Be carefull with the GT40P heads as they need a different extractors in order for you to get to your sparkplugs....cheers.

If you can track down some GT40P heads get them because they are the best factory heads. They have a good flow on the exhaust ports (better then any factory ford windsor head) & the intake is good on them too. With only a mild port job (around $600 for 3 angle valver job + mild porting + polishing) those heads will give you 40bhp as is or 60-80bhp ported.....

There are no markings on the EL2 heads to indicate GT40p. If you look at a set, the letters "GTP" are cast into the head at the front on the drivers side.

Check out the A.U see the plug angle? Thats why they had to change the extractors, they are in the way of the plugs..

el 2 heads are std /they are not gtp or gt40 as most people beleive.
