Just wondering, seeing as my 185 XR8 hasn't got one. Do the cool looking engine covers off the series 2 or 3 XR8's fit onto the earlier version? Is it a simple bolt over thing?

yes it is a straight foward bolt on but you need 3 brackets, one goes aroung the alternator, one on the power steering bracket & the other on the front of the inlet manifold

I assume i could get all of that and the cover from Ford? Or would i be best to get it off a wreck or similar you think?

If you want to pay a fortune for the stuff!!!! And finding a wrecked XR8 that wouldn't have cracked the plate is like the preverbial rockin horse s#*t..

I was quoted $220 for the AU 220kw cover from Ford a while ago, but that was through a friend so I don't know what the actual list price is.

$465 including brackets... my last quote from Ford. Can't recall if this was to one piece or two piece shroud though.

Ok, so i'll can that idea. Not paying that much for a cove, i'd rather spend it on engine mods...

According to my local Ford dealer the series 1 had a 2 piece (front and rear sections) and the series 2 and 3 had a 1 piece shroud. Mind you this wouldn't be the first time they've made an error.

The series one's didn't have a cover at all as far as I am aware, maybe he was thinking of the T series, but even still they are the same as the AU II covers just with different writing.
