Engine Cutout and Stall

Hey all,

I've done 19,000kms now in my xr8 and its developed a couple of problems that come now and then...

1> the car seems to stall when I'm shifting from 4th to 3rd... it happens from time to time without reason!

2> the car (for the first time today!) didnt go over 5200rpm in second gear... couldnt check in any furthur gear, but first reved till around 6000 and then 2nd wouldnt budge over 5200... what could be wrong here?! was on the M4 and had my foot planted and it would not go!!

anyone?

Re: Engine Cutout and Stall

Changed fuel recently?
Try checking the timing, sounds like she's losing power somewhere.
How about the idle, has it suddenly gotten higher than normal?

Re: Engine Cutout and Stall

yeah, the idle is slightly higher than usual... I have noticed that...

as for fuel, I run her only on Optimax...

I ran it a couple of times on Mobile Synergy 8000 and it kept on turning off... so I have never used it... but it happend for the first time on Optimax the day before...

its going to dealer in the morning and will know for sure whats happening... they think it might be a blocked fuel filter but I'm curious, cause sometimes it goes all the way to 6000 and sometimes (like yesterday) it decides 5200 - 5300 in second is enough...
