I'm just about to order the camshaft for my engine but don't know which firing order to get ground; late or early. The engine is a 347 and the cam is either a 31-336-4 or 35-336-4, (comp cams). I've heard the later model firing order is better as it takes the load off the front main cap. Any suggestions on firing order or experiences about either is much appreciated.

The latter model efi is supposed to be better ballanced....Same as 351w & clevo..

setup is 347 with 180cc protopline alloy heads, ported torker II manifold, 750 mighty demon carb. tricked up fmx, stall still to be determined. 9 inch with 3.7's all in a zc fairlane.

I am running the the next cam down from the one you are thinking about.
I have 4.1's and a tremmec, Maybe the stall will make a difference but I wouldnt like to have the cam your thinking about with an auto and 3.7's.I am thinking will be very lazy down low.

i was originally going to go with the 294s and i think i PM'd you about you it a while back, but a friend at work who has helped organise all the machining has convinced me to go one up.

what comp are you running?
I am very interested to hear how it goes when you get it togther.
How long before you have it going?

engine is at the machine shop as we speak. The car will be ready before summer. Pistons are SRP and with 58cc heads give about 11:1. Which is what the cam requires. Maybe if you go solid roller we cold do a deal for your cam as i'm not 100% convinced about the 31-336-4. Up until about a week ago i was set on the 31-335-4.
The person who convinced me runs a mid 10 sec torana, so maybe his idea of streetable is different to mine?

i've got a couple months up my sleave realistically. I've still got to finish the engine bay. But my biggest concern now is my compression ratio, 31-335-4 requires 10:1 min. and 31-336-4 requires 11:1 min. I spose i can use head gasket shims.
Anyway back to the topic, which firing order is better? anyone....
