when I nail it from a stand it's very slugish to about 2500 after that it seems fine no power loss at all; it also sometimes hesitates for a split second when you nail it. can anybody give me any idea what the problem is or could be.

Start with a general tune up, replacing spark plugs, air and fuel filter and advance the base timing a touch (around 30-24 degrees). Also check the spark plug leads and things like that. Probably worth throwing it on hte dyno to check AF ratios and how much power it is making.
Seems to be symptoms of blocked injectors too. Try some of that injector cleaner stuff with your next tank of premium. Has this behaviour developed over time or was it an "overnight thing"?

I've got a similar issue (rough idle, lacking in low down go until about 2700). I've also decided (hoping) that its injector related (replaced other stuff already).
So injectors are coming out to be cleaned over chrissy break . . .
To clean them, ideally you need to pull them out and use an ultrasonic cleaner (and a spray tester is cool too). But it might be worth the $15 for a injector cleaner additive - you never know it might just solve it (much easier than pulling manifolds and injectors).
yeah i did get caught out & ran it real low just last week. if it is a blocked injector how do i clear it out
You could run some cleaner through with your next tank of gas or two, you can get this from repco, autobahn, supercheap etc or you can get them ultrasonically cleaned.
