I've got these 302 heads with C9OE casting numbers (they're kind of oddballs, they are NOT 351 heads, despite what every reference book will tell you) and they've got these protrusions into the exhaust ports I'd like to take out, among other minor work.
Everything I've been able to find hints at this hump being either a remnant of casting or having something to do with a Thermactor, although it doesn't have any holes or anything in it, so I don't know about that.
Do you think it would be safe to just grind these all away, or am I going to run into the water jacket?
