I may have the chance to swap my complete set of au2 xr8 gt40p heads for a mates complete gt40p heads off a T series.

Now as I understand it the gt40ps fitted to the T3's have 1.7 rockers, better springs and flow a little better. Am I right and would this be a good idea as really I'm only paying to get them fitted???
If it does eventuate the 2031 cam will probally sneak past the bank manager and into my motor lol

The T3's and 220kw XR8's had the modified GT40P's. They had larger valves, minor porting in the throats and bowl area and were shaved to up the compression a little. The still had the stock GT40P springs which are a bit ordinary, you will need to change these for the 2031 IMO. And yes they were fitted with Yella Terra 1.72 roller rockers. The heads flowed 10-15% more than stock GT40P heads.

Yes its a T3, I'm basicly thinking about it just to entertain my self untill the final build of the engine.

What do you guys think the gain would be in just adding t3 gt40p's and 1.7's would be?
Then whats the 2030 going to give on top of that ?
Will it make it peaky etc

The heads will make some noticible difference. If you've got 1.7's going on you need to look at the 2031 not the 2030. When the cam goes in is when you'll really notice a difference. You WILL need better springs and may as well get the bump stick to go with it as the cost of doing actual labour is the killer. The parts are cheap for the gains.
Will certainly match the diff ratio well.

Yeah ment the 2031 Tom bloody typo.

Just thought as I was offered these heads at a little more than I can easily offload mine for I'd be stupid not to do it. So I'm going to scrap and save like nothing else so i can try to afford the cam as well as the labour. I think we worked it out last time that the cam was around $400 + timing gear set $100 + springs $??? and the labour would of been around the $800 yeah ???

Then just head to chiptorque and get it retuned to suit.

The mods I have now are.

Dual 2 1/4 exhaust
Pacemaker comp extractors
BMC +CAI
2 peice tailshaft
3.9's
Custom Chiptorque j3 tune (can move all limiters except torque reduction etc)
upgraded leads and plugs
The rest are cosmetic or non-engine related

What CAI setup do you have?

Thats sounds like the go! It'll be a bullet by the time your done

Same as caspers with an additional inlet to the air box put into the front taking air from behind the xr head lights. And a air deflector/scoop pretty similar to the SS inductions one that I made up out of some metal Twinpistion gave me that he had left over from his.

Mate I tell ya I need some more ooommmpppph as its boring the crap out of me at the moment. Handles/brakes and looks the part but even with the 3.9's the accelleration isnt that good. I dont really expect the T series heads and the 2031cam to do heaps but a fair improvement would be nice.

What i want is high 11's on the quarter but thats going to have to wait till I can do the whole engine + supercharger +gearbox. Money money money

Any of these crane cams need good springs..Imo double springs..Single to do the job can be too hard...Double gives better better harmonic stability...
Bta if you have to take heads off to change cam..You may as well...Seeing these heads are off a 5.6 check compression? Though maybe better lower comp if s/c....
