Heads

I've noticed that everyone tends to fit either alloy gt40 or trickflow heads. Has anyone had any experience or looked at using edelbrock performer or performer rpm heads matched with a performer intake? They any good in comparison to the aforementioned heads?

Re: Heads

Performer RPM are a good street head. Edelbrock make a good matched package with heads, cam, intake for a mild engine. A little on the expensive side, though.

Trickflow make several versions for windsor, from emission legal to race heads. To say that one is better than the other is hard, need to know your application.

Re: Heads

As Marcuss said, success is in a good balanced package, not in what is the biggest..

I used RPMs a few years back, but that was the only thing available at the time. Mine were ported so i cant really comment on how the standard ones were. The quality was good. I sent back two sets of rubbish Dart Heads (World) before settling on the RPM's.

Re: Heads

Some of the bolt holes were 4mm out. Yes, thats right, 4 milimetres. Not 4 thou, 4 MILIMETRES!

And both sets were the same!

ps
347: I may be pulling the 347 out of the Shelby and returning it back to stock. Let me know if you need the engine (347/steel internals/AFR's/RPM air gap/roller cam/mexican block)

Re: Heads

Thanks for the offer but I cant even afford to put the heads back on it at the moment.
I think I might dump it and put a chev in it.
How many 347's do you have?

Re: Heads

Over the past 10 years, I've used the standard 5.0 heads, Cast Iron GT40's, GT40P heads, Edelbrock Performed RPMs and Victor Jr's. The Edelbrock Heads are a good package, they bolt up are clean and dont need alot of work, I didnt o with a set of Trickflows due to the amount of work that was needed to correct like the comments re the darts above. Ive settled with the Victors now but would also like to have tried a set of Holleys.
