Am thinking of replacing the heads on me ol V8, with something like those below. Was wondering what is involved - are other mods required (cam etc) or can these be done later, after the heads are bolted on. How hard is it to bolt heads on? and what do you need to do (can you just follow the workshop manual - or are there some other trickies?) - sorry for all the q's.


Ported and Polished Ford E7 Heads

They have been compression tested, new valves, springs, and all that stuff.

The port work alone was over $1200.

When I fitted them to my car I got a 21rwkw gain (I fitted a cam at the same time).

Dont need them anymore - cos I got some yummy alloy heads.

It's not hard, just time consuming. You can just follow the workshop manual, but it is fairly clear waht has to be done when you are doing it. One thing though, what price is he after for the heads. Fully ported the E7 still don't flow huge numbers, if he is asking anywhere near $1k for them I would look at some GT40P's instead. Out of the box, they will flow about the same as the ported E7's, but can be ported further and have a more efficient burn.

Thanks for that. I don;t have any idea what price at the moment, but hopefully will by tomorrow. They were asking for offers, so I thought I might try $500 and see what happens

aulbury speed shop got gt40p heads for bout 800 a pair from memory.. i even think theyre new.

other than that, stock heads can be ok up to 50 Hp gains have been made from porting and valve change.. I picked up a pair of used heads at the wreckers of a burnt eb block for 100 the pair. this an awesome article i used about a year ago for some heads i never fitted, but sold, on porting stock heads http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ng/index.shtml
