Help, buying 302w for my xp

Hey guys i'm thinking about buying a 302w and C4 box thats for sale in the local paper.

Its $500 for motor and box he said its all complete and was running when it was taken out of the XR or XT forget what it was.

So is that price reasonable or not also is there anything that i should check before buying it as i'm no mechanic :)

Keep in mind that it doesn't need to be a great goer as i plan to have it rebuilt after i'm finished all the other work on the car.

thanks for anyhelp

If its supposed to be a runner get a battery, jumper leads can of petrol a wire for the coil. block any vacume lines then Fire it up on the ground. .
run it just long enough to see it idle a little bit give it a few small blips on the throttle you don't want to cook it so keep it short. yeah i know its fun but keep it short. 10secs of running is enough.
If it can't be, ask why not?

If complete with all accessories sounds good. As stated run it on the ground but put some pipes on it so you can hear the knocks......

Its nice to know bore and crank undersize. Nothing worse than buying a running/rebuilder, and pull it down to recondition, and its allready been bored and ground to the limit. Still, sometime hard to find this info.
