Ive heard that chips are crap for ford xr8 so i was wondering if u could get another 20 kw(or more) for $1000 - $1500

I was thinking 98 powerchip which they say gives 20kw but now after reading articles in the forum on chips im re-considering.

whats the best things for me and im willing to use 95-98 octain fuel.

I also want more gains (torque) in the low to medium rev range.
And will KNN filter do anything?
can anyone help

lean more towards the 15000........(i guess that was a misprint)
20 extra kw's arent gonna help you much against a vy ss.....
if you buget around 2500,you can get a good quailty full zorst system,that will give ya an extra shove, but if you not prepared to spend more (heads,cam,intake,stroker) then you got not much chance against a vy ss....... unless hes a dud driver!

You're going to be pushing it to take on a VY SS, even with headers, exhaust, intake and chip, which on a 220kw AUII/III is worth a solid 250kw.

But one thing i dont get if AU3xr8 does 0-100 in 6.5(motor mag), surely
20kw more should tip it into the 6 mark and i have read reports of vyss only doin 6.2. I do realize about driving conditions make a difference but i thought 20kw would get me close.

I get the feeling i should save me dollars and wait a little longer and get a second hand xr6T.

Thought it might of been a little easier and cheaper to gain more power.

Is it because the 5ltr has been worked alot already to get 220??

NO it's because the whole induction matches all the other parts in flow. SO to change one part WON"T really make that much difference. Except for GOOD extractors and exhaust $12-$1600.. The rest is expensive for you basically have to replace nearly 1/2 the engine and induction including injectors...

I would say start with the extractors AND the front end...like a K&N filter. While the K&N filter won't give you much top end kw, it gives you a much better mid range so you will get more torque in the mid range. Quite noticeable!!
