help needed building eb xr8 motor - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

it all started last weekend when i was about to head on a 500km round trip to pick up my old boy from hospital..... i did the right thing by checking the oil b4 i left only to find what closely resembled a well processed cappocino!! as luck would have it i was already considering an engine rebuild for the old girl(260k odd kays with irregular oil changes 'til i came along) and would obviously like max hp withbudget of $5500-$6000. my dream engine would inclued a blower or stroker kit but im open to ur suggestions. what combo would you guys suggest keeping in mind my budget and the fact this will be a daily driver ( so tune if neccasary will have to be inclueded in the initial expendature - but i could prolly afford to spend another $1k in about 2 months ((tax time)) as long as this would not require a re-tune) and such cant be off the road for too long. ive been looking at the gear available on summitracing.com and am very interested but im unsure of the extra costs involved with importing car parts from the usa. thanks in advance for ur help!

for 6k you will have to keep it naturally aspirated or it will break.i wouldnt stroke it either.doing that on the cheap will get you a stack of crappy parts that also will not last.plenty of posts here about good eng combos.keep looking.

Check bore and only bore if you have to...
Check crank yes that can be re ground without issues..
You could get away with just freshen up?
With good ring and bearings and new oil pump, timing chain..
Then I'd replace heads, inlet, maf..[throttle body I'd replace last]
So thats $3k rapt up in induction...GT.P heads can be alittle cheaper..
Crane 2031 cam, Hi energy sump? Good gasgets and your laughing... For an extra $1400 buks a stroker 347 kit, but then that adds up alittle more on assembly...
No point in real strong parts as the weakest link in these engines is the block..
CORRECT clearances on strokers is very important!!!

Yep I called into www.highperformanceworld.com.au and asked whats the cheapest stroker kit for 5.0 to 347? Its all Eagle too [crank & rods]...Unless age is getting to me they said $1380....
Edit no it was $1480 should have searched first ha?

what do you get in the above stroker kit? is it just crank, rods and pistons or do you get rings, bearings etc?
