im still in the process of biulding my new engine.
it should make about 550hp and about the same amount of tourqe but i still want more power out of it.
Who is willing to share there secreats about there engines or engine combinations to make the power over 600
So far ive got a - 408 strocker kit(maybe a 416 gotta check)
- Edelbrock Super Victor Intake Manifolds flowed at 600hp
- Edelbrock Victor Series Race Cylinder Heads
- 1000cfm TB, gonna connect it to Wolf and put some injectors in it
i was gona supercharge it but the cost factor was an issue.
I would have thought Victor's would had flowed more than that?
ps
How could you not know if it is a 408 or 416 if you've just bought it?
i wish they flowed more then that
i assumed i brought a 408 from what i remember but i was lookin at the ad i brought the bottom end from and it said 416, so ive just gotta call the guy and check
im thinking of changin me heads and manifold
im looking at getting the Blue Thunder which comes in either 50cc or 70cc flows 360 & 270 cfm out of the box @ 28" this is approximatley 750hp, with a full competition port job these heads will flow over 420cfm (which is over 800 hp flow intake) & 310 cfm exhaust, these figures are @ 28" also, This cylinder head is the highest flowing small block Ford head available today and a manifild to suit
has anyone used these heads before???
My XR8 sprint 5 speed is a unopened motor with 130,000kms on it.. K&N, Advanced timing by 4 degrees, pacemakers, 2 1/2" exhaust at the diff, good leads, plugs etc. - 225hp atw. 14.10 @ 97mph with bald Khumos
My XD is a 351C standard stroke
4V heads with toungues (heavily ported)
TFC manifold (ported)
BG Gold claw (alcohol)
SRP forged alloy pistons
Eagle ESP H-beam forged rods
4MA crank (prepped)
Black XE Block grout filled
Big custom grind billet cam - appox 700 thou lift
I've been told to expect between 600-650hp. I'm HOPING to get into the 10's with full interior etc. The car will be registered and i might risk bringing her out every now and then until the boys in blue intervien.
Build time has been since June 2002, i'm hoping to fire her up within the next month

hey Frdpwr im currently running a 408 cubed windsor with the 3v heads ive had them ported and polished and they flowed 700HP at 680though of lift, with ferrea valves and valve springs, crane roller rockers, 11.1 compression(alloys tolerate more comp ie... 11.1 with alloy heads = 10.1 with casts), TFC manifold and BG 1000cfm carby, Comp cams solid roller camshaft (keep in mind a wild roller cam in a standard stroke 351 is a mild cam in a 408+) with 670though lift and 248/254 duration (which is small even for a 351) has produced 460 rwhp and estimated by the chasis dyno to be 530rwtq on pump fuel, the thing goes from basicaly 0- 460 in 700revs (5700-6400) when properly run in, tuned and running on avgas should get closer to 480rwhp, which would be close to 600+ Fwhp and the best part is, is that because of the relatively low compression i can still run U98 fuel and even premium unleaded without pinging, it never runs hot( half the time the thermos never even need to be turned on) and the size of the cam being pretty small its completely driveable and reliable i let my Mrs drive it with the baby seat in the back with my 5 yr old daughter in it. Its a true streetcar, with the cubic size of your engine a massive cam and compression isnt needed :)
