Look out Mr. Statesman, the LTD is on the prowl.....
This is the installation of my new underdrive pullies...
car is raised so i can remove the crank pully.
this was the hard bit. some of you may remember me mentioning i had trouble with this when i was putting my ported heads on. well, it beat me then and i left the bastard on. But this time it had to come off. after trying many different "techniques", we came upon the winner. we used a chain style filter remover around the pully, a large spanner and a fair bit of brute force.
Removing teh alternator pully using a rattle gun.
all the pullies removed.
my precious....
crank pully installed with the supplied new stainless bolts.
waterpump pully installed with old bolts, i plan to replace these asap.
alternator pully installed.
belt installed. after that is was just a matter of re-installing the fan and its shroud (with a anti-sieze on it this time).
I was sceptical of the hp increase, but im now converted. they have made a difference on the seat of the pants meter.
A big thanks to shane (MrLandau) for the use of his driveway, tools and brute force!

I was surprised with the difference it made when I put the underdrive pulleys on my EL too. 11kW according to G-Tech, and as you said the seat of the pants meter definately showed improvement. Glad you had as good results Barry.
FordFan86, the pulleys "underdrive", or slow down, the belt driven accessories on the motor. By underdriving them they consume less power, this saved power is then transmitted to the wheels.

Low, Loud. How a Ford should be.
I have to say - we went out for pizza twice in this thing (they stuffed up the order) and it pulls bloody hard. The best thing about the "Love Boat" is that it is quiet and unassuming - even when you lift the bonnet. Nothing jumps out and says - I have been played with. It still idles nicely, is quiet inside and out until the load pedal is pressed hard against the firewall. Top effort Barry - may your home ported E7's and HO'e upset Holden drivers forever.

lol yeah it sure goes a lot better than standard. having an identical car (but completely stock) at home helps to re-inforce the fact that I am getting somewhere with it!
they cost $225 + $50 machining to suit my waterpump/alternator
My leads are Topgun 9mm, which you can purchase from Sprint if you're after them (around $50-70, i cant remember). standard leads are 8mm i think.
My rocker covers are simply painted, i have a chrome set but it requires a different gasket which i dont have at the moment.

We tested Barrys car with a Fluke multimeter - it made 14.6V at 1600rpm - since the stock stall converter is around that figure anyway - so long as you are driving the car charges.
