confused low power/backfire

Ive done 2000ks on my stroked 347 engine and it has not being tuned yet due to lack of funds etc.It has being running fine till the past couple of days when just out of the blue it backfired quite loud. Today it seemed to get worse, when under normal acceleration it had no power then it would just go all the sudden. It seems to backfire around 2000rpm under acceleration. I was somthing simple so ive checked everything on the intake side, vacum etc. Is there somthing wrong or is it because its not tuned???
