My heads- what should i do - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

i've been on these forums talking about selling my car, but for the moment it's still mine and i feel like treating it to some err... enhancement.

i'll be pulling my head off shortly to redo the valve stem seals so....

my question is, while i have the heads off, should i port them and put 1.72 ratio yellaterra roller rockers on, or buy GT40 heads(no rollers on these according to jeff) from herrods?

both options will cost about a grand and thats already too expensive.. but which one will yeild the best power gain versus money outlay? and which will be a better long term setup?

what heads are on the car now?
what size is the engine?
comp,cam size etc ?

stock.. using E7 heads.

only thing done is air filter and extractors.

Your best bet would be to go for the GT40P's. They flow alot better than the stockies and if you plan to do further mods in the future you wont have to worry bout the heads. But if ur on a budget, you mite aswell just port the E7's

Go the GT40P's, they are great heads for the money. They flow as good as ported E7's and have much better chamber design giving a better burn, more efficiency and less emmisions.

One other thing that you might want to check before you change to the GT40P's is that your current extractors will still fit. The bolt pattern will be the same, but the plugs are at a different angle, and MIGHT foul with the pipes. I must admit that i do not have the GT40P's, so cannot offer advice on what extractors will fit or not, but someone else might. Hopefully it won't be an issue, but you'd be pretty pissed if you get them and find you then have to get new extractors.

Either way, you might as well get the 1.7RR's and fit these at the same time. The yella terra ones will fit both heads.

I hear that you will need to get a new set of leads that are on a right angle (???) correct me if I'm wrong.

I too am looking for a little extra boost but dont know if it is worth the extra cash to go the whole hog.

got right angle plug leads already..

EDXR8, thats what i needed to know.. whether stock GT40s compare with ported E7s, or whether i'd need to port the gt40s to compare with aforementioned ported E7s..

of course i didnt ask a question so specific, because i wanted a broad range of answers to get everyones opinion.

I have done a couple of GT40P conversions using DiFilipo 4-1 extractors which clear everything and work very well.

Pacemaker and Genie extractors also fit, don't know about any others.
