NL Fairlane v8 water leaks???? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi, I have had 2 NL Fairlane 5.0 litres come into work in the last 2 weeks with coolant leaking past the timing cover on the left (passenger) side near the cylinder head and also out the back of the intake manifold..
Is this a common problem or just a freak co-incidence??
Are they an easy fix?, just pull apart and replace the gaskets?
I have never seen one of these engines leak water there......

Well a 5.0l eb that I bought had the leak from the back of the intake manifold so that could be a common problem.
the leak past the timming cover could be the water pump

I thought the water pump too, but it is definately where the waterport from behind the pump goes into the block...

yeah its normal just happened 2 me n depends on how badly its dammaged, cracked water pump, blown gasket or warped waterpump shaft its one of those hard 2 c leeks anyway. no eazy way but 2 do it proper coz its a fatal problem
