hello all. dont know where to post this. ive been fighting the oil pump rod/ shaft re-installation on my 65 fairlane w/289 all day to get my distributor in! i tryed magnets, etc. BUT, i didnt want to remove the oil pan.so instead i took a REALLy long pair of needle nose pliers and narrowed the front of them waaaay down. grabbed the oil pump shaft with them and was able to push rotate and "finesse" it into its place. distributor went in with ease. car fired right up, good oil pressure. i REALLY hope this helps someone in the future. ive been goin nuts since 6 am this morning. time for a cold one
