Opinions on Ford heads - GT40p/GT40/GT40X etc.

Just wondering what you blokes think about the range of Ford heads and their potential... and also their value! It's very early days, but eventually I'll be doing the head conversion (with new valves/rockers/cam etc), and if I'm gonna keep the current GT40 upper/lower intake manifold, what would you blokes think the best combination would be head and cam wise?

Or would I be better off to flog the GT40 upper/lower off and go all Trickflow?

Good stuff only availability and cost. Check out www.corral.net / forums and search...

I like the Crane 2030 [not alot duration, plenty lift] 1:6 rockers or Crane 2031 1: 7 rockers same as Kelli's XR.... E 303 is too cranky imo.. o/k with turbo's though...

Sparkles, the best value for money head from the ford range is the GT40p head. But, with mine i had them ported and larger valves fitted with new double row springs and retainers blah... This can make them an expensive head. But it's still good value considering edelbrock heads still need a little bit of work out of the box to make them really good... As for the camshaft, will let you know how mine runs. I do alot of city driving, so didn't want a huge arse cam in it, i've putting in a mild one which should make good power.
