I hope someone can help me out with this one, I have xr8 au2 auto, the motor only just started to do this - it pings when i up it just before the auto kicks back the motor pings only for a short time once the revs r up its ok. I run optimax in it when ever i can , Vortex is the only fuel we have here in the mining town so it has to drink that,Now i'm thinking the prob' with pinging could be its got aa gutfull of dirty fuel in it , which is lowering the combustable content off the fuel and the fuel filter is clogged or injectors r dirty, The electronic side off it i would'nt have a clue. Be much appreciated for some help on this as its pissing me off with the pinging n loss off power. thanks wayne.

It may be that you actually got 91RON unleaded even though you paid for Vortex.

I know it has happend to me here in Brissy with Optimax that pinged like hell, until I filled up with BP ultimate.

Not unusual with prices being what they are for the servo owner to sell ULP as PULP.

The fact that it is pininging even with an EMS suggests you got a bad load of fuel.

Do the basics first, set the base timing. Even with 91RON you still shouldn't ping unless you have bumped the timing up a fair amount.

Thx for the advice i give my MAF a good clean with window cleaner and metho fixed it thx wayne
