My oil pump started acting up while I was doing 75mph on Interstate yesterday and now, I am burning up my bearings.
So, while I drive this motor until it turns into a solid block of metal, I'm attempting to locate and build a 5.0 HO. I have a few questions:
1. What years did Explorers have the roller-block 5.0 HO?
2. What brand cam is recommended among the roller designs?
3. How do I tell E7TE heads from the rest (where are the stampings)?
4. Who wants to give me a free 5.0 HO?
Short block will remain stock with new bearings and piston rings. The E7TE heads will receive a home-port job. Aftermarket cam and MAYBE roller rockers (depends on the cash flow). I'll swap my stock ECM for a HO ECM. I'll stick with speed density for a while until I can afford the MAF swap.
