XF 5.0 S

Ok - maybe it's not possessed - but weird problems:

Current symptoms:

* at idle all of the sudden the revs started climbing up and up and up......(still climbing after three hail mary's) .......freaky

*after I killed her (did not want fried windsor).. On re - start It would be ok again, then the revs would climb up all over again during normal driving

* seems to be intermittent , good days with no symptoms, bad days with severe over revving (climbing gradually)

Initially thought that the throttle cable was sticking as revs stayed high, installed new cable but still revving high on idle

Checked throttle return spring ( with cable detached), seems to spring back ok - did this with the cable attached and detached, with an assistant depressing the accelarator pedal in all positions, and it sprung back ok

I have run this throttle cable set up for the past two years with no problems.

Im thinking tps swich is rooted ....What do you think?

How high is it revving at idle?

Perhaps you have a sticking ISC bypass solenoid. Some time back my 5L would shoot up to 1.5-2k rpm at idle. Cleaning the ISC-BP fixed it.
