Guys having an issue with my project build.

the problem I have is that the power steering unit I have (Falcon ed v8 5.0) the return line does not have enough clearance to allow the return line to go between the pump and the bracket as the return line comes in from underneath. Anyone able to go and check their v8 5.0 Ed to El to tell whether I have the wrong pump. Because to me the return line should come in the back horizontally not veritcally like I have.

Mine comes up virtical then as it plugs in its horzontal.Not far from front bolt on extractors.The return line can be altered /extended as there is vertually no pressure in it..

Thats right, on the EB/ED V8's the return line comes in to the back horizontally. I replaced my pump a while ago and from memory I had the same problem (not totally sure, all I remember is something didn't fit). The plastic tank on mine was black, not the standard yellowish colour, I just ended up pulling the tank off and swapping them over.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Ford parts (Metro Ford) have only showed me the pitctures and part numbers foe the one where the return comes in from the bottom, which is no good because the bracket is in the road. I should chase them up again.

That block looks a bit sick I've heard you can split the block but I've never seen it done before !!

It is the same shape but it is the black plastic resivoir one.

So the one in yours enters the pump horizontally through the back. The ford parts guy does seem to think they exist. If I could get a photo of the back of the pump in the car that would be great.

By the way this is going in a 1970 capri with a 347 stroker.

Huh I have a pump with stuffed thread on main shaft.Just don't ask how that happened...
How about I give you the part # STP-45-RM F1SZ-#a764-CBRM
This one is light yellow plastic..
I guess it depends on what type of accessary bracket you have ???
