Re: ProComp Distributors HEI

Procomp Electronics retail outlet arm is Speed Supplies. I asked the bloke there why MadDogRacing is selling them cheaper in the US on Ebay than what they are here. He advised the ones on Ebay would need modifying to make it fit in earlier 302's and recommended the 7000 series.

I can't comment whether they are good or bad, coz I ended up making my own for $60.

Suggest you spend the extra money and get a Brand name.

I bought one and it went back! Not prepared to say anything more than that.

I have one, the terminals are all loose, one even fell off so i had to get a new cap. And the coil failed after 2 months. You can tell how cheaply made they are, i wouldnt buy one again.

Re: ProComp Distributors HEI

I fitted one to my 11 sec VH 308 commodore and ebded up with better results putting a Bosch unit on it with the procomp dissy. I would not recommend using that unit.

Re: ProComp Distributors HEI

I don't know about the HEI units, but I've got a procomp on my ancient 289 with no dramas whatsoever. Seems to be mainly bosch internals with the elec ignition and casing made by procomp. Only cost me $250 for coil and dissy. Sweet for tight basterds like me.
