I have a '89 F-250 2X4 with a worn out 302 and have an opportunity to get a wrecked '90 F-250 4X4 with a 351 in it. Both are 5-speeds. Is this an easy swap? I'm sure the ECM would need to be changed, but other that that. is it a simple swap? Are both of these engines Windsors? Is the bell housing pattern the same as well a motor mount placement?

Yeah both engines would be Windsors. The engine mounts and bell-housing should be the same pattern.

If you can get the whole car, or at least access all the parts frm it, it should be a fairly easy change, because anything that is different with the 351 you can just pull from the wreck.

Well, I got the engine swap finished. Not a piece of cake, but it turned out OK. The engine fit the old bell housing, and fit the mounts in the frame. The wireing was entirely different. I knew I'd have to replace at least the computer, but I wound up having to replace the entire engine compartment wireing harness. That sucked. I also have an engine vibration that I think might be the flywheel. It bolted up to the 351 from the 302, but I'm wondering if it's weighted differently. It's not a bad vibration, I think I can live with it. The exhaust was the other nightmare. The system is completely different on the other truck, I believe because it was 4X4 not 2X4. Naturally, it wouldn't fit from the other truck, so I had a 2 into 1 adapter made. I've got probably 30 hours in the whole job, about twice what I expected. I don't think I would want to do it again.
