I've just replaced the waterpump on my ED 5.0; there was a lot of crap in the cooling system so I had the radiator flushed & fitted a new thermostat {180} while I was at it; problem is it doesn't seem to be getting warm enough the temp gauge only just get to the first line in the normal on the gauge it used to sit in the middle of the N is this ok {normal} or is it running to cold
I think it's running a little too cold if it is only just getting to the first line. As you said, the middle of N to O is about right. If it is running too cold, the EEC makes it run richer and may affect timing so you will be loosing power. You might have a faulty thermostat which is opening up too soon.
Thanks EDXR8 changed the thermostat today; checked with ford they said it should be running a 192deg thermostat. so I put a 192 in it & its running between the N&O again
