I dont remember the exact name (starts with P) but people will know what I mean.

Who has one of thise spacers between the uppwer and lower manifold? I am thinking about getting one to put on when I swap the manifolds over.

What are they worth and where would I get one from?

Has anyone dont JUST the spacer and able to comment on any difference in after putting one on?

Phenolic spacer. I hope spelt it right? [Bloody Morrinsville college] It is suposed to keep heat from top manifold. What it does do is lengthen inlet runners so it can give you more torque lower in rev range.But les power up top..
Can be made from electric meter board.The hardest part of fitting one is finding even longer manifold bolts...

Phenolic Spacer thats it. When I installed mine I did notice a reduction in upper intake temp. It takes longer for it to heat up and doesn't get as hot either. The increase in intake runner length also moves the torque band down slightly.

To get the genuine Ford Phenolic Spacer, I enquired about it 3-4 months ago and they want $180 for one to suit stock e-series manifolds. That price included bolts to suit.

As I remember grant you said the increase was 1kw and 5Nm of torque at the wheels. Is that correct?

Ok opnions: Is it worth the $180 because I think now is the best time to be thinking about doing it.

I remember a magazine article which got 1-2rwkw and 10Nm torque improvement on an 185kw EL XR8.

Is it worth it, well I would say yes because you won't really find much else for $180 which will improve your power. Results are small but probably noticable, but if you are doing it on the e-series stock manifold, I would put it towards a new manifold instead.

The way I look at it, unless your changing to an aftermarket intake manifold and/or doing head work, I dont reckon its worth it imo. $180 doesnt warrant a small and insignificant increase with just that alone.

I'll be changing to the AU design manifold which Is why I thought it would be a good chance to put one on.

If that is the case, I dont see why not. Going to an AU manifold will be a good increase as is and the addition of a phenolic spacer will aid the benefit of that!
