they reckon a set of AFR 165cc heads, Crane 1.7 rockers, dual plane manifold and a 625cfm carb will get 400hp@6200rpm at the engine. I'd imagine a late model Falcon GT40 manifold and 65mm(?) throttle body flows better than the carb setup, and u can Tweecer a 6500rpm cutout.

Surely this can't be so... Admittedly 380lbft at 4000+rpm doesn't sound amazing. I remember reading some people here have AFR heads on strokers. Are they really that good?

yes but 380ftlb converted to Nm = 515Nm. I find that is phenominal torque imo considering my EB XR8 produces 388Nm standard which is 286ftlb. Very impressive indeed for the just heads, headers and rr's.

What is the price of 165cc AFR's anyway?

Damn, ur right. Too tired last night to notice. I think the toughest T5 only has a 330lbft limit. The AFR heads come in 58, 60 or 61cc chamber models, which sounds a bit small so CR is prolly a lot higher than the stock head.

I don't think the Falcons had GT40 manifolds either, and the stock TB was prolly 60mm?

Price according to their catalog is $1,325 US "complete with parts". Don't know if that's with spring and rockers.

$1325US converted to AUS will end up nearly $3k. Fine if your keen but $3k can get alot of other stuff done on my car. Personal choice in the end I guess.

Nah, it's not $3000, it's only $1,940AUD. See www.xe.com/ucc for a currency convertor. I would say that complete only means with valves/springs.

GT40 manifolds are different to the EL2 XR8 Explorer manifolds, GT40's flow heaps better.

I have been playing around with a virtual dyno on my computer lately, and it says that with a stock 302W, AFR165 heads, an E303 cam, Edelbrock Performer FMS Cobra or GT-40 manifold, 70mm TB will make 400bhp (300kw) at 5900 rpm.

What program is that? They also got a 185 head which flows better than the 165 from .2 lift. Doesn't say for below that.

Also, does ur program say anything about the 1-2grand torque? I always thought that anything with more than 1hp/cube would be a bitch to drive.

Spending $3000 on anything else isn't likely to get u 300kW.

It's called Dyno2000.

I'm not on my computer, bit I can post the dyno graph up later on tonight.

2000 - 285 ft/lbs
3000 - 341 ft/lbs
4500 - 395 ft/lbs - Peak torque.

But you can see, this motor will make more torque at 2000rpm then a stock EFI 5.0 does at it's peak.

Thats not what I meant. I meant I could use that sort of cash else where on the car that could benefit my personal needs, i.e. Wheels, exhaust system, tinted windows, DVD player etc. Not that 3k would come close to getting all that stuff but you know what I mean. I Wasnt just talking about the engine. Sorry if you were misinformed.
