T/B Spacers?

I was just wondering what anyone can tell me about these Throttle Body (helix?) spacers?! What exactly is the idea of having one?! how much performance does it give you?! How much would it cost me to purchase one of these?! and Where might i be able to purchase one of these spacers in Brisbane?!

Thanks in advance...

Re: T/B Spacers?

I think the main idea behind them is to swirl the air as it goes through the throttle body therefore not creating as much resistance. They also used them on the older carby engines to help the fuel atomise better but thats not the case on the long runner efi manifolds. They don't seem to be used much on the winsor engines probably becuase there are plenty of larger aftermarket throttle bodies available so the spacers aren't really required.
