Today I tested my compression
To try to ease my recent depression
To my glee I surely found
That my compression was very sound
One hundred and Seventy PSI
With shaved heads surely my car will fly!
Two things however made me cry…
So slow on the quarter, I wonder why!
The bolts that hold paceys to the head
Had busted free, fallen out and fled.
This makes my quarter prospects bleak.
As this must make my exhaust ports leak.
To my dismay I also found
Spark plugs I’d call far from sound
Electrodes rounded, burnt and stuffed
With gaps a technician must have previously muffed.
I now need to ask a question of you
For those who know their ovals (blue)
With the headers loose I need to learn
Could air have entered causing my exhaust valves burn?
If so I wonder whether a visual inspection
Would be enough for valve damage detection?
Also, I’m shaving my heads, it’s all the fad
To raise my compression ratio just a tad
Do I just give the machinist a desired CR
And they’ll know how much to shave for my car?
How do I go about this do you know?
I don’t want to stuff things, I’ll take them slow.
And what about problems with PVC?
Will my 1.7:1 rockers bring grief to me?
I guess I could take the valve spring off
Drop valve to piston at TDC and mark the valve stem soft
That will tell me the max valve travel
Put spring back and rotate engine the mystery to unravel
For if rocker pushes valve to a certain point
Where the valve stem mark and the head are not joint.
I’ll know the PVC with which I can play
And I’ll tell the machine shop to shave away!
If my poem has been to cryptic,
Please ask and I’ll happily re-script it
I thank you all for reading this thread,
With out your help my Windsor plans would be dead
