I'm thinking about buying a 64' Fairlane 500 with a top loader and a 289. I'm just curious how quick this car would be. The motor is a 2bbl and is very healthy and sounded very nice. I'm trading him striaght up for my 87 camaro

As is it will go pretty well , I had a 64 compact in 1970 when living in New Zealand , with motor work headers 4 barrel and exhaust I got ticketed a week before I left the country ( I was going anyway) at 139 MPH , I was very pleased with that and never paid the fine ( police came looking for me about a year later) and the guy who bought the car got stopped a lot :) are you going to leave it as is or maybe heads 4 barrel and exahust ? ( and you have to lower the car of course)

Not sure what gear are in the back, I believe they are 3.2x gears from a granada.

I have a friend with a 302 for sale, small cam, edel intake, 9.5:1 compression, 600cfm carb, headers, decent little strip motor
