my light came on today with a full tank of water and would not go out.i reckon the float has sunk.has anybody replaced theirs-or a customers?is the tank going to crack when remove the retainer?

no.retainer came out easily.replaced switch problem solved.coulda saved $50 by turning it upside down i reckon.

Apparently once they start sticking they will continue to do it on and off, so the $50 for the new switch was probably worth it.

it wasnt sticking so much as the float was full of coolant.must have hole in the seam where the two plastic halves are joined.turning it upside down would have kept it in the "full"position under its own weight.would have rendered the whole point of it being there useless though.a way of keeping the annoying red light off untill cash permits replacement maybe.mines fixed proper so its one less thing on the list.

You can always take the option my car's previous owner did and hard-wire the circuit closed :-p. [NOT handy, believe me ..]

Anyway if it's like an EF it's easy and well worth doing, mine was just old and the plastic had just given up. Simply unscrew it using the two pinholes on it (there might be a tool of sorts but i used some needle-nose pliers) and replace with a new one... enjoy!
