It depends. There is hardly such a thing as a standard Cobra these days. It was basically a "K" code 289 in the later cars.

of course the only shelby cars got the k code 4v heads 4 barrel but more nickel in the block so it aloud for better heat trancefer and harder reving so bigger cam and carby, the standard gt was a A code 4 barrel 4v heads v8 and the c code was 2 barrel 2v heads v8 and the T code was 6 cylinder 1v head 2 barrel. i hope i got that rite i used to restore the things many years ago!

He started with a K code 289 (ie HIPO) @ 271HP, this is factory.
He installed a high-rise intake and a 700CFM Holley. Exhaust was Tri-Y design headers. Replace the stock mufflers with straight through glass-pack mufflers.
Replace the sump with a cast alloy version of larger capacity. Valve covers replaced with light alloy. At this point 306BHP is quoted.
As you can see there isnt too much modification. Chassis and suspension was a different story.
