Just curious... i've read in the states about 302 blocks being pushed beyond their limits (approx 6500 rpm and 600hp), i'm just curious to hear stories of people who've had failures, where and under what circumstances.
Thanks!
Shane
(ps. im only asking because im building a hydraulic roller 347 on a '93 model windsor block)
Bad tune on a mild vortec setup. made 200ish at the wheels. Extra injector and a shit ecu piggyback. Turned piston no.8 sideways and smashed it into 100's of peices. the rod and piston made 2 large holes in the block. Prolly not applicable to your situation but the tune is almost everything when it comes to killing engines of course :)
Main gurdles are supposed to help. Why not get a dart 347 short from the states or eagleauto and rest at ease.

DETONATION kills engines !!! I was lucky I blew head gasgets and replacing them with two turbo's hanging off the sides is no easy task....
Now have 330 Dart block, copper head gasgets, O ringed heads...
Most important good tune with decent fuel supply....

When the T3 Tickfords were running in GTP, the split quite a few blocks, just aound the cam tunnel. Winwoods XR8's that used to run in the ARC also had a few blocks fail, once again, around the cam tunnel.
Its not high HP that kills them, its the constant load and revs that works them out....
The main girdles are good insurance, and there is also now available a Valley Girdle to stop the blocks from twisting and cracking.

Suprisingly nothing stupid. cruising with the mrs thru the city, hit the clutch for a 2nd-3rd shift and it went F**KEN bang! When we stripped the engine, we found a piston in the wrong way, 3 rod bolts finger tight and a shitload of Taiwanese parts. This was all put together by a "reputable" Ford tuner!!!
No I will not name him publicly. PM me to find out.
12psi no traction @ 120kmh, dunno how much power, dunno how long will last. C8 block, standard crank and rods (ARP bolts/studs). Currently @ work putting in more fuel line. 55L tank sure does empty fast, @ $1.25L it hurts.
Sorry reason I posted in here is. Drove a couple of different "500+hp" VL's and the falc sure does feel a lot faster. windsor Blocks sposed to bust @ 450+hp so will keep posted on longevity.......
