Can anyone tell me why it is that some days I can jump in my ute and it runs oh so smoothly and quietly and feels like its 200 kg lighter than what it is and the very next day its like a different car altogether, doesnt pull hard, engine sounds rattlier, like tappets, and runs noisy and rough. I originally thought that fitting the exhaust and Unichip might iron it out a bit but it has made no difference. Then i heard that the Unichip doesnt alter anything in closed loop mode, if thats true, whats the point because running around town wouldnt it mostly be in closed loop? Any info to help my understanding would be much appreciated.

well....i have often pondered this question, it usually boils down to the weather mate, in my case, the cortina will run absolutely beautiful late at night or down on the coast, but on hot days it will run like a hunk of crap, im guessing you are running efi??? efi should cancel most of atmospheric stuff out. you see i live in toowoomba, we are high up and the air is thinner, so the carb's starve alittle, whereas on the coast the air is thicker & heavier....just a thought

I would imagine atmospheric conditions would play a very small role in it but yes it is efi with eecV and i would imagine with o2 sensor it would be adjusted accordingly. Still doesnt account for the difference I am getting, without exaggerating, its like putting 200 kg of cement in the back!
