HI guys, just a few questions.
im lookin at buying a new car, either a ED XR8 Sprint or a EF-EL series XR6. i just wanna kno how much it would cost to modify the sprint to round 250fwkw compared to the xr6. i really love the sound of an 8, but the six is probily cheaper to modify. thanx guys. cheers
you would have to turbo the xr6, if you got a sprint to get 250fwkw it would not be as hard as they came out with a fiar bit of power. a GT40 manifold, unichip, extractors, exhust ( which you would probably need to run a turbo anyway ) and some head work, or better yet after market heads or GT40 ones will get you close to 250fwkw. I got 161 rwkw out of my EB XR8 with that combination except for the heads which is close to 250 fwkw. now i want 250 rwkw though thats why i am going stroker.
They sport a 93 mustang cobra engine (with minor differences) with the following differences over a standard 5.0 engine
200kw from factory. Ford stated 195kw but i would suggest that was to not upset GT owners, the owners manual from ford actually states 200kw.
GT40 heads
Cobra intake
24lb injectors
Bigger maf, throttle body
I did nothing but chop the exhaust at the diff, pacemakers and K&N, i made 225rwhp on a stock 135,000km engine (which did 14.10).
I would personally go the sprint and port the GT40s (or fit aftermarket heads) and fit a cam and good exhaust, you will easily make 250kw at the motor (if not more)
Think of the resale of a ED Sprint over a EL XR6 in 10 years time...
Oh and another thing, take both cars for a drive. My mum has a EL GT and i much prefer the handling of the Sprint... easily the best handling E series falcon i've ever driven.
Only downside is if you dont like the older EA shape and older style interior.
Just picked up a Poly Green Manual in Vic. Was advertised for $13K. Interior in excellent condiiton. Well looked after... will post pics some time in the future.
