I am in the process of installing a 1996 linclon 4.6 engine into my 1965 Galaxie.
My reasoning is I want the improved gas mileage, along with the good ride and looks of this car.
One of the first things I see as I lower the engine in place is interference between the front crossmember and the oil pan.
The old 390 had a front sump, and the 4.6 is a rear sump.
Does anyone know if there are any 4.6, or 5.4 engines out there with a front sump?
I am sure I will have many more issues, (as expected), but really want to avoid changing out the front frame clip to finish this conversion.

Yep, the 5.4's used here in Australia are front-sump equipped. I can check out prices for both oil pan and oil pump pickup if you are interested. Just PM me with your email address, and I'll chase up for you.

Was told Lincoln Navigator was a front sump, have not researched
