I have seen spark plug covers on some 4.6 engines that have "V8 32 valve"
logos on them and want a set for my BA XR8.
They are illustrated in 2006 Ford Racing catalogue, page 62.
I havent seen them "in the metal" so to speak, and want to know if this is a decal or inscribed into the cover?
Anyone got any leads on these? Thanks.

I do not have the catalog You refere to, but the 1997 Mark VIII has a black coil cover on the left side only, that match Your description. It is a metal cover. The other cover is plain black.
