hey guys im new to the mod motor thing, but i scored a running 4.6 and rebuilt overdrive out of a 92 town car executive series for dirt cheap. do any of you guys know of a carb intake for this motor or is it even worth putting in anything. i havent found any speed parts for the 96 and earlier motor. are they really junk or can i get some power out of this thing.thanks in advance for any advice.

anybody i searched and a few peaple said there crappy but nobody says why is it mechanicly week or just the electronics. sorry if this sounds dumb im just into small blocks this thing may just end up at the crusher and also does anybody know if the transmission will bolt up to a 302

I have never seen a carb set up for a 4.6. The best way to get performance out of a 4.6 is to supercharge it. You can put the 99 PI (performance improved) Mustang GT cylinder heads and intake on that block and make decent power about 275HP. Do you know if the tranny is a 4R70W? That is the common auto tranny in mustangs and they can be built to handle good power 700-800HP. I don't think it will mate with a 302 though, different housing.

I didnt think the 4.6 made its arrival until 96. Are you sure its a 4.6? I bet you got a 302 there.

Its a 4.6, they debuted in Lincoln in the early 90s. As for supercharging, the stock internals should be good for about 400hp. I am not sure if Ford revised the internals in the 2V engines along the line. But 400hp to possibly 450hp from a stock internal GT motor is about the max.

Edlebrock makes a carberator manifold for the 99-03 4.6l, part #2839. I don't know if it will work for a 92.

99 was the first year for the Power Improved heads. That manifold won't fit the earlier heads.
