G,day everyone this is my first post.
As you can all see by my tag , my dream car is a Shelby cobra
replica. The reason I am posting , is to enquire whether or not
any of you guys know the pricing of the boss 260 and 290 motors.
I would also need a few ideas about adapting the fly-by-wire
throttle control to a kitcar.
Sorry if this subject has been discussed , I'm new to this forum.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I can't remember how much these engines cost but if you buy the Parts Peddler magazine there are some suppliers that buy engines from the US, they are not the boss engines of course but may give you an idea what they are worth.
You could try and see if FPV will sell engines separately.

the boss engine you'll only be able to get one in australia, becuase they did a limited run in america but not anymore. I dont think you'll be able to get one in australia, but hey who knows.

Mate has just finished building a Robnell Cobra!!

And it is without a doubt the most terrifying but fun car that I have ever been for a spin in!!! AWESOME!!

He runs a fuel injected alloy 460ci motor that had imported from the US. (his dad lives over there), tight fit, but slotted in very nicely!!

Between that, the checker plate, leather, fully detailed engine bay, etc, etc, etc.....the thing looks awesome!! Even welded up his own side pipes!!

I'll check with him and see if he's happy if you get in touch, he's probably the best person I know if you have any questions about building a Shelby. In the meantime fire me a PM with any questions and I'll pass them along.

Unfortunately I can't get a straight answer from either FPV or Ford dealers.
FPV tell me to ask dealers for pricing, however the dealers claim that their spare parts price lists don't show any prices for the new engines.
RICHO your friends car sounds awesome! It would be a dream to be able to afford a Robnell. The kit that I am looking at comes from a Sydney company (Classic Revival). They make a well enginered and affordable Cobra kit , that is close to home. I figured the new quad cam engine would the car pretty unique.

cant tell you on a boss engine but the 220kw retails for around $11000.00 so that should give you an idea.

you would no doubt be able to do a better deal once you go to buy. i agree a boss motor in a shelby would be very nice indeed but i think it would be a very expensive exercise.

Try Herrod Motorsport for a Boss!... Rob or Jeff on ..Melb. 03 04645100....I'm sure he'd be only too happy to build you the meanest 5.4 Boss around!!

You do realise it will be cheaper to build up a Windsor to 260/290kw+ than to try and buy a Boss 5.4. Not only that the Cobra will handle better due to the less wieght of the 5.0L.

Oh and the 5.4L DOHC is actually wider and taller than the 460ci big block...
