Ok, I have a 96 Thunderbird with the 4.6 2V motor. My question is what are the common problems with this motor. Currently I am dealing with a misfiring under half to full throttle conditions. If I barely press the throttle down, it's nice and smooth, but any farther, and I get a stuttering. Also, I am having a problem with the car's performance when it's in overdrive. When the car attempts to shift out of overddrive, I get the "running over train tracks" jerking. I was just given this car by my father-in-law, and he has had it since new. I called the dealership to get the service history, and it was in once for the misfiring - dealer service manager said they replaced one oxygen sensor. Father-in-law says the problem lessened, but gradually came back. He has since bought a new Mercury, so I am left to deal with this car. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as the service manager and I no longer get along ... could it be that he didn't want to mess with me and had an attitude
