So, tell me about these upcoming 5.4L AV Falcons.
I was elated to read recently that the upcoming AV Falcon will be
using a 5.4L Modular V8. The article I read claimed the following:
September 2002 - New AV Falcon range:
240kW 5.4-litre DOHC V8 Fairmont Ghia/Fairlane/XR8 and optional across range
275kW 5.4-litre DOHC V8 T-Series sedan/ute
300kW 5.4-litre GT
These sound like some great powerplants. We have no
equivalents here in the US, unless you count the 5.4L DOHC in the
limited production (only 300 made) 2000 Mustang Cobra R. Also,
the Lincoln Navigator (SUV) has a similar motor, but it is setup for
truck application (low end torque).
So what else might you guys know about these? Such as:
Is the 300Kw motor a SOHC with a blower (rather than a N/A
DOHC)? If so, then I wonder if it may actually be a derivative of
the motor in the F150 Lightning?
Are these going to be using Aluminum blocks? In the US, we only
have Iron 5.4L blocks thus far (4.6L are available in Aluminum
Any idea what heads they are using (all new design, or the same
as the DOHC heads on the Lincoln Navigator)?
Any idea what the price range of these cars will be?
Are these motor going to be built in the US? If not, are they going
to be assembled with US-sourced parts (like block, cranks, heads,
Any other info you have would be very appreciated! BTW, if you
guys have questions about the modular motors we have over
here, I would be happy to answer what I can.
Thanks, Mark K
