I have xr8 auto it has used 2 lt of oil by 6900k Has any body else have this problem i have been back to the dealer who has added 1 lt yesterday and told me to come back in 1000s k he also advised me not to change the oil untill 15000k

Mine only ever used 300ml. I changed oil at 1500k ( still to mineral oil ) , then around 7000k . I'm having 15000k service on Monday , and it will be changed over to full synthetic .

I wouldn't leave the original oil in until 15000k. No way in the world.

i'm not sure of ml terms but inbetween an oil change at 6000km's and the scheduled 1st service at 15000km's the oil mark was only a few mm from the full mark. Happy with that considering it gets driven pretty hard. I'm guessing prob around 200-500ml in 9000km's?

From what ive heard they have a Chrome ring package and tend to need to be driven a bit harder in there initail runnig in prosess to help bed them in.. I know that the boss engines now dont use the same ring package. "Apparently anyways"

One of my mates used 2 litres in the first 2000k and he went on a club run and thrashed his car..It stopped burning oil straight away... Very strange that not giving your car enough herbs could cause it to use oil......

Not saying go thrash the bags outta it but certainly driving it a little harder then normal for a day or 2 might solve your problem if its not to late

My XTV8 has now done 23000km with not a drop of oil usage, she has seen the rev limiter often which is to low as she is still pulling like a train then poof nothing.
I have been running BP Visco 5000 from 7500km.

Davo this only applies to the XR8, GT, GT-P.. and like i said its been changed now

I saw this thread and checked my oil for the first time (12700kms) and it took an entire litre. Seems like excessive consumption to me but nothing compared to 2 litres at 6900. I assume it was checked at 1500 by the dealer.
