Is the XR8 oil viscosity the same as the GT 0-w40?

I think you'll find that Ford uses Shell Helix Synthetic in the FPVs but ordinary Helix in the rest. Synthetic oil usually has a broader range than the other.

The FPV range uses Castrol oil.I guess it wont hurt to use 5w50 synthetic oil in the XR8 then.

I'm trying to find out what the Australian owner's manual recommended oil viscosity is for the modular V8's.

As you may know, the Yanks have gone crazy and Ford is recommending a 5W-20 in all new engines.

So, does the Australian owners manual say 0W-40, 5W-30, 10W-30 15w-40 or ?????????
